THE SHORE · LUKE 5
Jesus stepped into the boat that came back empty.
Peter had worked all night. He had effort, experience, and nothing to show for either.
The morning did not begin with a triumph. It began with tired fishermen washing empty nets while a crowd pressed toward Jesus.
Jesus chose Peter’s boat before Peter had anything impressive to offer. The invitation came in the middle of an ordinary workday, after disappointment, before Peter understood where it would lead.
Sometimes being seen by Jesus begins precisely where we feel least worth noticing.
